Easy Any-Meat Meatloaf

Updated: Sep 1, 2019

Prep Time: 5-10 minutes

Bake Time: 1 hour

Makes 6-8 Servings

Notes:

I love this recipe because you can make it work for you. It can be made with any ground meat. I have made it with ground beef, turkey, venison, or sausage. I have even mixed different types of meat and it always turns out delicious. The version in the picture is made from ground turkey and venison. When you use very lean meats like turkey or venison, I suggest adding some butter so your meatloaf it isn’t dry.

You can easily substitute the ingredients to use what you have on hand. For example when I don’t have dry bread crumbs, I toast some bread extra crispy and crumble it up. I have also used crumbled saltine crackers as a substitute. For the meatloaf sauce, you can make the sauce I describe below or you can just use any BBQ sauce to caution down on the steps. I encourage you to try this recipe. It is so simple and delicious.

Ingredients:

For the Loaf:

1 1/2 pound ground meat of your choice

1 egg

1 chopped onion

1 cup milk

1 cup crumbled crackers, dried bread crumbs, or crumbled toasted bread 1/4 stick of butter **

Salt and pepper to taste

For the sauce**

1/3 cup ketchup

3 tablespoon brown sugar

3 tablespoon yellow mustard

**Optional - the butter is suggested to add fat to leaner meats like venison or turkey. Instead of making your own meatloaf sauce, you can just use store bought BBQ sauce

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Combine all the loaf ingredients a large bowl.

3. Place in a greased 5 x 9 inch pan and smoothen the top

4. In a small bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients with a spoon or spatula.

5. Pour over the meatloaf.

6. Bake at 375 degrees F for 1 hour. I usually crank it up to 400 degrees for the last 15 minutes to fully cook. Each oven is different
